QCTP Handle
I made a new hold down bolt for the quick change tool post that doesn't require any tools. I didn't like looking for the 8mm hex key every time I needed to change the angle on the tool post. I took a 10mm bolt and cut off some of the threads, since the only one I could find at the store was too long. I tightened it down on the tool post and marked the desired location of the handle on the head. I turned the head round and turned a decorative cap out of aluminum that pressed on the bolt head. I drilled through the cap and head at the angle I marked and tapped it for 10-32. I also spot faced the hole with a 1/4" end mill so the handle would sit flush. I turned a handle out of aluminum and tapped that for 10-32 as well. I used a 10-32 stud to attach the handle to the bolt. I will probably remake the handle with steel, since there is a bit of flex in the aluminum, although it works well. Click the pictures for larger images.
