Info
I am a mechanically minded individual with an electrical engineering degree from Penn State University and I like solving problems. I love tools, acquiring new ones and learning how to use them. I started gaining basic hands on skills as a child helping to rehab apartments in between tenants. As I entered my teenage years, I furthered my skills by learning how to diagnose and repair commercial laundry machines. I also learned basic auto maintenance around the same time. My vehicle knowledge increased out of necessity once I started driving. With only a minimum wage job to pay for gas, insurance and dates, I had no choice but to learn how to keep a $1000 car running with my own hands. I did simple things like replacing brakes, new exhaust systems and wiring stereos and some as complex as replacing a blown head gasket and swapping out a complete engine.
As I got older, I bought a house and continue to refurbish it. Almost no job within it scares me off, so I've tackled framing, drywall, painting, electrical, plumbing, and refinishing cabinets. In the future I'll see if I can handle tile, flooring, roofing and replacing windows. I also enjoy riding and maintaining my motorcycle as well as shooting and modifying guns. Most recently I've gotten into wood and metal working. I have a Sherline lathe, Sherline mill and recently added a Chinese 7x lathe to my collection. This site will document various projects that I have worked on. Most of my knowledge has come from reading information online, watching Youtube videos and just trying things with an allowance for failure. Doing things myself has allowed me to have more than I should be able to afford on the money I make, and more importantly, each project adds to, or refines, my skill set. I don't think there is anything more satisfying than seeing a project come together from just raw stock and an idea. |
